Mapping and Analysis of Impact Crater Ejecta Distribution on the Lunar Surface

Zach is a Ph.D. Candidate with the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration at Western University whose research involves the interpretation of remote sensing datasets to map the surface geology and geomorphology of planetary bodies in the Solar System.  Zach’s current research focuses on the mapping and analysis of ejecta facies from impact craters and impact basins on the Lunar surface with the goal of better understanding the impact cratering process as well as the interaction of ejected materials with the pre-impact lunar landscape.  This work will help us better navigate and investigate planetary surfaces as we continue to explore the solar system with both robotic and human-led missions.  A more complete and accurate mapping of the many overlapping ejecta blankets on the lunar surface will also provide us with a better understanding of the geologic history of the Moon.
