A big congratulations to Cassie Stuurman for being awarded the Charles Carmichael Prize by the Department of Earth Sciences. This award is given annually to the best undergraduate honours thesis in geophysics! Cassie’s thesis was entitled “Analysis and characterization of subsurface reflectors in Utopia Planitia, Mars, using the SHARAD ground-penetrating radar”, and has already been presented orally at the American Geophysical Union meeting in December 2013 and at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Houston in March 2014.
