Study of the shock metamorphic features in anorthosite from Mistastin Lake impact structure and Apollo samples using Raman spectroscopy

Thesis description

Meteorite impact craters are the dominant surface feature on most terrestrial planets and provide fundamental information about planetary evolution. One of the most distinctive outcomes of hypervelocity impact events are the metamorphic features, which develop in rocks and minerals of the target material during passage of the impact-generated shockwave. The goal of this study is to further our understanding of shock metamorphic effects in plagioclase feldspar, one of the most common minerals throughout the Solar System.
